U-Turn - 7/16-14 Serrated Hex Flange Lock Nut Zinc PlatedA with a hex shaped portion on one end, and a round flange with serrations on the other end. The hex portion allows it to be installed with a standard tool, such as a hex wrench, and the round flange serves to "lock" the nut against the item it is being tightened too. As the nut is tighted against an item, the serrations bite into the item, displacing some of the surface material, and this provides more static friction which keeps the nut locked in place better than a standard hex nut or a smooth flange nut would do.These serrated flange nuts are made of steel and case hardened to Rockwall HR15N 78 - 90. Finished with a Zinc Clear Plating that provides good corrosion resistance for indoor applications.
